  • IGPack has been released! Release thread here! Thanks to everyone who contributed!

    [Reveal] Spoiler: Project Specs
    If your interested, please read ALL of the project specs:

    • General Info:
      • Anyone may do a map.
      • If you wish to make a map, post in this thread asking for a slot. If possible, give a name and % done.
      • Try to keep us up-to-date with your map's progress by posting screenshots/updating your % done.
      • For the time being, you may not sign up for more than 5 slots.
      • If any of the submissions break the rules, I will not add the map until the problem is rectified. NO EXCEPTIONS!

    • Mapping Info:
      • All maps must be in Skulltag (Doom in Hexen) format.
      • Please DO NOT include an exit.
      • ALL MAPS must have normal DM things in it for compatibility with all DM-variant gamemodes. (i.e. weapons/health/ammo/powerups)
      • ALL MAPS must include one Player 1 start.
      • You MAY NOT use new textures. I will be providing a texture resource wad soon.
      • You MAY NOT use new DECORATE things.
      • You MAY use new music (I highly encourage it).
        • New music may be in any of the following formats: .mid, .it, .s3m, .xm, .mod, .ogg
        • Music MAY NOT be over 2.0 megabytes.
        • Copyrighted music MAY NOT and WILL NOT be used.
      • All maps must be sent in to me once your done -or- if you are at a point in your map's production to where you want it to be tested.
      • You may send me your maps either by uploading and posting a download link in this thread or PMing me the download link.
      • If you want, you may create your MAPINFO lump. Here's the template:

      • The map MUST be zipped and named using this template:

    • Gameplay:
      • GAMEPLAY MUST ABSOLUTELY COME FIRST!
      • In my eyes, a good Instagib map contains a few things that set it apart from a regular DM map:
        • Open, flowing spaces with various places to dodge behind (obstacles).
        • Lots and lots of height variation.
        • NO CRAMPED AREAS!
        • Good sniping positions.
        • DM starts in areas where it discourages spawn camping.
        • No long hallways.
        • No overly huge open rooms.
        • (If you want to chime in with your thoughts on 'What makes a good Instagib map", please do so.
      • Gameplay value will be decided by the group of testers. After each map has been played by the testing team, it will be evaluated. If it doesn't meet a good base for gameplay value, it will either be dropped entirely or revamped by the original author to increase playing value.

    • Detailing:
      • To be blunt, you map must look better than a pile of steaming crap. Overly intricate detailing skills are not a requirement however.
      • Do not use 'filler' decor...the decoration you use must look good and not interfere with gameplay.
      • If you are not good at detailing...just do the best you can. A good indication of there not being enough detail is when you've got a 1 sector room. Add skylights, floor detail, wall detail (windows, computer panels, etc). Refer to these guides for good information on detailing.
      • Don't be like me when I usually map :p....GAMEPLAY > DETAIL > CRAP.

I could give this a shot after I finish the 3 maps I already have going ^_^

Hehehe, sounds cool at any rate :)

EDIT: Go Ahead and sign me up for a map, I have an idea for an abandoned water treatment facility I been kickin' around sounds like a good opportunity here, since there will be plenty of stuff to dodge behind... I actually already started building the map as an invasion map, but it's maybe 25% complete and has no weaps/monsters or anything yet, just a plain factory with a P1 start and an odd wall that appears to be cutting one of the buildings in half (right now, cuz that's where I stopped building for the time being, hehehe)

I'll help out if you would like! What ever spot you want to put me would be fine. My map will be called Pillars of Pain! You said Skulltag in hexen format, cool, I will use vanilla doom textures, and make a killer DM wad. Heh, this is my 5th project I have to work on now, at least it keeps me busy during the dry spell's at work. :) Other than that I will get started and should have screens soon! BTW I have some maps over at DoomWorld if you want to see my work!

Right at the moment, I am using my own textures, but I will swap them out for others after I see what the options with resource wad are. ^_^

Also, the map will be entitled "The Lost Outpost"

I'm gonna try making a MAPINFO lump for this one, since I don't usually bother, lol (I hadn't done ShadeCTF's cuz I figured I'd just do one big one after all of the maps were done and working).

Currently, the only other "rooms" I have to finish are: A Storage Room/Warehouse, a Landing Pad + Loading Dock next to the storage room, a Barracks and Security/Armory Area, and an Observation Platform. I would say that it's about 50% complete if you don't count re-texturing everything that will need it (which is, unfortunately, about half of the map :s hehehe)

@Stealthy Ivan: Yes, there WILL be a due date...I'm actually getting ready to post it along with the Texture wad. As per naming your map lump, yes that would be very nice. In fact, if you can and know how to...go ahead and throw in your MAPINFO lump in there with the map name, sky texture being used and your music.

@ShadeMistress: Ok, map name noted. I'm getting ready to upload the texture wad, so be sure to grab it! If you can't make the MAPINFO lump, no worries; I'll do it myself when I get the map :D
