One of the most-requested features for Skulltag is the ability to enable and disable certain skins. Well, in Skulltag 98a, you can do just that! SoulPriestess and HeX_Vulture completely re-organized skulltag.wad, and as a result, the skins and announcers have been split off into their own folders. Which means that if you don't like a certain skin ( *cough* *cough* daisy), you can just delete it! You save yourself annoyance AND disk space! (You can also just move it if you want). Here's what the /skins folder looks like in Skulltag 98a: Notice something? That's right! NO MORE DAISY! Daisy, Massouth, Hissy, Doomcrate, and all the other non-humanoid skins are NO LONGER included in Skulltag! They're fun on occasion, but we realized they were simply annoying people too much. These skins are now available as an add-on to players who still want them. Bonus: Lighter Skulltag! In 98a, skulltag.wad has gone from 47MB to 11MB! We've employed all sorts of compression to make it smaller for you guys. Not only that, but there's now a special "lite" edition of Skulltag without the "announcer" and "skins" directories! It occupies just 16MB of disk space...yet is still fully functional! Oh, and skulltag.wad is now called skulltag-data.pk3, and the whole thing is now rebuilt from an open-source SVN. We're getting really close! If all goes well we hope to release 98a this Sunday!

That's pretty cool. Although it's not going to make a difference for the competitive players who have all skins disabled in the first place. I will miss Daisy, though. I used to use that skin all the time back in the 95k/96f era.

Not only was Daisy hard to see and obnoxious, but I always felt like I had to aim down just out of instinct. Glad to see them gone, though I may hang on to Meepy just to hear the death sound. (Then get annoyed 20 seconds later.)
At first, I read it as the skulltag.wad being 11MB and the lite version being 16. Then I realized the lite version was referring to the whole package, .exe and all.

I would like to thank the entire ST development team for their huge efforts and time spent twiking with all the gizmos found within ST; that being said, a HUGE thank you to Hex and SoulPriestess, why? because i despise Daisy mm, and i wasn't crazy about the eight different versions of Doomguy either, but anyway, hell yeah! can't wait for sunday

Disabling skins is one thing. Not having them take up download time and disk space is even better. Also ... Sunday? (maybe) ... holy crap
