Using SkullTalk for the first time
When you use SkullTalk for the first time, you will be prompted to enter your Nick;
This is can be either your Skulltag player name, or any name you would like to use. In this tutorial, I will use “DemonPortal”.
NOTE: Keep in mind, your Nick (User Name) is going to be seen by everyone.
When you have entered in your user name (Nick), SkullTalk will automatically begin connecting to the IRC server, this can take several moments, depending.
After it has successfully establishes a connection, you will automatically access Skulltag’s IRC channel, or chat room (sort of speak).
Knowing the basics
Private Message (PM)
Private Messaging allows only two users to communicate privately amongst themselves.
Todo a Private Message or PM (for short), you can double click on a user name from the User List that is shown on the right side of the SkullTalk application.
You can also Right click with your mouse, and select (Private Message) from the list.
Whisper
If you want to send a small private message to user on the same channel, you can use whisper to accomplish this. Keep in mind, this is NOT Private Message (PM). Though in Whisper, it is a private message in the channel itself, but not as user-to-user.
To send a Whisper to a user, be sure you highlight the user name from your list, and select (Whisper) from the text box.
Adding color to text
If you want to add some colour to your messages before sending them to the channel, just select the color button on the top of the window, and select the color you wish to use on your message.
NOTE: Some applications may not support colors in messages, however some of the more advanced IRC applications can easily support it.
Looking for other Channels to join
If you like to join other channels, or trying to find a channel that you want to join, you can use the “Rooms” button located on the top of window. SkullTalk will begin collecting every channel that is broadcasting to the main server.
To join another channel, you can double click the channel or type in your text box ( /join #CHANNEL_NAME ); either one will connect you to the channel. Besure that you adhere to the Channel Topic, since every channel has different rules and regulations!
Changing skins
SkullTalk comes with two skins, “SkullTalk Light” and “SkullTalk Dark”; by default, the skin used is “SkullTalk Light”, however you can be able to change it to “SkullTalk Dark”, or any skin that maybe available later on.
To change the skins, go to Options on the top button on the window, and be sure you are on the “Appearance” tap; then on the Skins:, you would select which skin you want to use.
