Skulltag Autoinstall Script

Skulltag Autoinstall Script is a shellscript for Debian-based Linux distributions such as Ubuntu. The script does fully automated installation of Skulltag (from the official repository) and Doomseeker (from SVN), as well as packages needed in order to use them. Also the script will add skulltag.net APT repository and desktop shortcuts.

Contents

Instructions

1. Download the script into your /home/user folder (This is important. It must go exactly into your home directory, NOT in any subfolders.)

2. Open the terminal and type: "sudo ./st-autoinst.sh". You need to run it as root because the script will need access to the package manager and write permissions for /usr/bin and /usr/share.

3. There's no "3."

Note that installation may take long time. It depends on your system specs, internet connection and packages that you have installed. Also make sure that you run the script from your Home directory (~/). If you are going to run the script in a not clean terminal, you may want to type "cd ~/".

Stability

The script is stable. It has been tested under a virtual machine running a clean installation of Xubuntu 9.04. However, it can't handle errors. For example, if you have some problems with packages (eg. broken deps or missing packages in the repository), the script won't install Skulltag and/or Doomseeker but will still create shortcuts.

Other notes

Running the script again will not reinstall or upgrade Skulltag, but will update Doomseeker to latest SVN. If you wish to reinstall Skulltag, do it through the package manager. You should be able to upgrade it via your update manager. Also if you already have Doomseeker installed from the official repository, your installation will be replaced with latest SVN version (in case of successful compilation).
